It is beautiful in Nauvoo! The leaves are changing color and the weather is beginning to turn cold. Snow showers are expected tomorrow with the temperature dropping into the mid twenties. Most of the summer missionaries are gone and suddenly this busy area of Nauvoo gives off an aura of February 1846, when the saints began the Nauvoo exodus. The difference of course, is that the persecution has ceased with only a few of the descendants of the "mob" remaining. We still see a few church, tour buses each week. They stop in Nauvoo to marvel at its' beauty and grace, to enter the beautiful Temple, to view the old sites on the flats and to buy their souvenirs. It is good for the economy and the merchants are elated to see these huge buses roll into town.

Our Taste of Nauvoo event went well. Nearly 290 people came to have dinner with us and enjoy the entertainment. Approximately 50 members of other faiths attended, which made the night very special! The menu consisted of roasted chicken, corn bread, chili, corn and green beans. Dessert was old fashioned ginger bread, topped with whipped cream. The entertainment was highlighted by Lon Simpson and the Log Village Volunteers. They played mid 1800's music and did a wonderful job engaging the audience as they sang songs of fun and joy. It was a great event as it brought the community closer together in so many different ways.

We are busy with our missionary work and our investigators are slowly progressing. Each one is at different stage of conversion and has their own set of unique problems. But, it is a joy to be able to continue to share the gospel with them and to feel the spirit touch the lives of these good people. We are hopeful that each will enter the waters of baptism by year end. But we are keenly aware that this work is under the direction of the Lord and it is in His time frame, not ours.

We hope that you are working on that one person to invite to hear the gospel. Remember, our challenge is to invite just one person to take the discussions by Christmas time. You can do it!

Stand Strong and Be Bold!!

Warmly,
Elder and Sister Warner
