The Nauvoo Pageant has sadly come to an end and slowly the visitors are beginning to file out of this historic town. The Visitors Center is still humming with EFY and YSA events and the merchants are elated that these young people are still here and spending their hard earned money. This is the last week that the Young Performing Missionaries will entertain us, in Nauvoo. Many of them have received mission calls and the remainder are headed back to school. They are wonderful young ambassadors for the church and will be greatly missed!

We received some quality referrals from the pageant and we are just beginning to make contact with many of them. Three of the first six referrals want to know more about the church and we will begin sharing the gospel with them this week. One of these referrals, Mary, was simply overwhelmed by the spirit while at pageant and afterward said she wants to hear more right away and join the church. We told her we thought we could help:) Several others also felt the effects of the Lord's spirit and have come forward with pure testimonies and contrite hearts. We have felt the tender mercies of the Lord and we are very grateful!

Remember that wonderful weather that we have been talking about? Gone!!! Now in the low 90's with 85-90% humidity. It is very sultry to say the least, with no relief in sight! I guess we can't complain too much, as up until now we have had a pretty mild summer. The corn is now nearing 12 foot in height and the sun will cause further growth. The farmers are happy campers!

I have included a couple of photo's of Stone Arch Bridge.

This is one of the outlets that the saints built to drain the swamps when they first arrived in Nauvoo. (then called Commerce). Some of you may remember this as being in the movie, "Emma." This is the spot where Joseph first kissed Emma as he was courting her. They is a very sweet spirit in this place, almost as if the two of them were very near.

I have also included photo's of the actual grave sites of Joseph, Emma and Hyrum Smith. We could sit here forever and feel of the goodness of these three great people.

Please read President Eyring's message in the August Ensign. It gives one a new perspective on being grateful for all that the Lord has given us. Also, there are still many in need of rescuing... don't forget what you promised Father before you came to this mortal world. Won't you bless just one person within the kingdom? The Lord needs you!!

Stand Strong and Be Bold!

We love you,
Elder and Sister Warner

  1. Now I can see why I haven't heard from you in a bit - You have been VERY busy! All sounds wonderful, even if bitter-sweet that the Pageant has come to an end. Sorry to hear about all the humidity; it has been fabulous here in San Diego.
Love and blessings to you Laura.
