We apologize for the lateness and shortness of this week’s blog, but we have been transferred to Nauvoo and this caused us to spend a great deal of time closing down the Manchester apartment, etc. At any rate, we arrived in beautiful Nauvoo today and spent the day with all the of the Sr. Couples from the Iowa Des Moines Mission and Pres. and Sister Jergensen After a wonderful lunch at the Zion Mercantile, we attended the two o'clock session in the Nauvoo Illinois Temple. Our new home overlooks the Temple and it was gorgeous last night as the lights shimmered in the night sky. The Mississippi river is swollen due to the torrent rains and although flooding has not been an issue in Nauvoo, many of the towns upstream have experienced extensive flood damage. Nauvoo is just beginning to come alive with visitors and those that desire to attend the beautiful Nauvoo Temple.

Last night we taught a family that has been taking the discussions for a couple of weeks. Dave is a member, but his wife of 4 weeks (Susan) and her son Brett are not. She was raised a Lutheran, but has recently left the church due to new doctrine and other concerning issues. We still have much to overcome with her, but the spirit was strong and testified of the truthfulness of the gospel. Sister Warner and I feel really that Susan and Brett will be baptized, but it will take some time. Our next lesson with this good family is on June 12Th.

We are so grateful to be to able to serve our mission and often feel of the Lord's inspiration. We feel very blessed to be here in Nauvoo and we are anxious to move forward in our new area and begin to find people to teach. It is a little different in Nauvoo, as we are not allowed to proselyte. However, if people have questions we invite them to listen to the discussions and/or come to the chapel for a church tour. Sister Warner has stated on several occasions, "How do you tell the story of Nauvoo and not proselyte?" Of course, she is correct and will follow her lead.

We promise more Nauvoo information and photos next week!

Read of the Christ-like attributes in Preach My Gospel. Very inspiring!!

Stand Strong and Be Bold!!

Warmly,
Elder and Sister Warner

We miss you all...
